Day 2- It Begins

We left… In fog. There was a lovely surprise when The Littles came to see us off (thank you Rob, Ellen, Becky and James!). We started with the usual rirual-walking down to the sea and wetting our boots:

My first selfie… (Incidentally- St Bees is only a few miles up the coast from Sellafield… Is there a greenish glow to the water…???)

Three miles along the path and the waist strap on my rucksack snapped (not a great ad for Mountain Warehouse- it was only six months old…). I ended up carrying the full pack on my shoulders for the last ten miles, which left me a bit sore at the end of the day. Fortunately the next B&B had a sewing kit…

Just before we left the cliffs the fog finally lifted…

You can just see Whitehaven in the distance. From here on in we were heading east. ..

Got our first big hill today too- Dent hill. Only a pimple compared to what is to come next, but some great views of the Lakes looming in the distance. ..
